A course of Glass Arts at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music will be opened in April of the year 2005. In commemoration of this event, we would like to present the exhibition [ Tokyo geidai no garasu sakka tachi-tenn] (Glass creators from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music) which is created by 52 artists and designers who have graduated from the university. Starring artists such as Toshichi Iwata, who introduced glass as an "artistic" material to the society in the beginning of the Showa period, this exhibition contains various fields of glass works such as glass crafts, three-dimensional creations, industrial design and stained glass. It is possible to see from their works the contributions that the graduates have made in the creation of glass works throughout the history as well as their recent activity. Presented by Executive Committee of "Glass creators from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music", The University Art Museum Supported by Asahi Shimbun Foundation, Foundation for Cultural Heritage and Art Research, the Nomura Cultural Foundation Inquiry: NTT Hello Dial 03-5777-8600 |
